STEPHEN DORSEY, AUTHOR OF BLACK & WHITE ON ADDRESSING RACE IN CANADA
In the aftermath of the George Floyd murder in 2020, Stephen Dorsey found himself at the centre of the discourse around racial inequality in Canada when a neighbourhood hardware store owner put up an All Lives Matter sign on his marquee. Dorsey went and met and interviewed the store owner and later wrote an article about his thoughts on the interaction, further sparking the development of a book published last year. Dorsey has a unique perspective on identity in Canada. Black & White: An Intimate Multicultural Perspective on “White Advantage” And the Paths to Change is a part memoir, part-history lesson, and part DEI information guidebook and ideas around paths to real change.

Digital signage is not a silo
Stephen Dorsey and Brandy Alvarado-Miranda argue that digital signage should replace self-siloing with interconnectedness, along with embracing a focus on content and seeing technology as a means toward audience engagement rather than an end to itself. They also share how and why inclusion is becoming a major business priority.

Does the re-assessment of our past offer future change for Canada? Our panel combines lived experience and academic expertise to explore these issues. As a bilingual, biracial man, straddling Black and white, English and French Canada, Stephen Dorsey offers readers intimate and unfiltered access to his lived experience of anti-Black racism in Black and White: An Intimate, Multicultural Perspective on White Advantage and the Paths to Change.
